Wry Crips
From Disability History
Wry Crips was a California disabled women's theater group founded in 1985 by Patty Overland, Laura Rifkin, and Judith Smith. The Wry Crips presented poems, skits, and dramatic readings by women with disabilities, expressing their own feelings about their lives. Although most of the pieces were about disability related subjects, some were about love, sex, and the ordinary things of life that everyone experiences. Satiric humor and justified anger were the prominent expressions in their shows.
